If you're like me, you love movies. And I particularly love it when a movie reinforces, borrows, or meshes with my biblical world view. Here's a few.
"Prometheus" and "Knowing" are two films with plots that offer completely fictitious, while entirely entertaining variations to intelligent design. "Prometheus" flat-out rejects Darwinism, and "Knowing," starring Nicholas Cage, ties in Scripture, angels, and the establishment of a new world. If you enjoy sci-fi and believe in an intelligent design of things, check 'em out.
"Wyatt Earp" and "Master and Commander" are two essential movies on leadership. I was reminded of these two films the other night when Chris Christie gave his speech at the RNC and said, "Leaders don't listen to polls. Leaders change polls." "Wyatt Earp," starring Kevin Costner (and way better than Kurt Russell's "Tombstone") depicts the life of the famous lawman, outlaw, and leader who was anything but affable. "Master and Commander," stars Russell Crowe as the British high-seas commander who knows when to do the right thing (a key trait of a leader).
Here's the fine print: There may be some things in any of these films that you find objectionable. I'm not saying that's ok, only that the concepts I'm pointing out have some Christian value and that I enjoyed the films.
